The Christian walk is filled with every benefit imaginable to the believer. Everything we need to make it to our spiritual finish lines has been provided for us by the Lord. However, in our human weakness, we always seem to find a trap to fall into. One of the largest of these traps is self-reliance. We have a strong tendency to try to live our Christian life in our own strength. This can be a troublesome place to find ourselves. We learned last week that we are not designed to fight our battles on our own (2 Chronicles 20).
2 Thessalonians 3:3 says, “But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.” This teaches us that the power of God will anchor our lives and provide us with the protection that we need from the schemes of the enemy. Our primary duty is to exhibit faith in the promises of God and remain submitted to His will. This takes a tremendous burden from us and places it where it belongs; on the one who sees and knows it all. Take comfort in knowing that the Lord has a perfect plan with our spiritual safety and best interest at heart.
