In Christ, we have the wonderful assurance that the love of God is unconditional. The Bible tells us that God is Love (1 John 4:8). It is impossible to divorce this from the character of the Lord. However, the benefits of having a life that is blessed by the Lord are conditional. We all have a part to play in pleasing the Lord in our day-to-day lives.
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14
This illustrates that the conduit to blessing for any group of people (not just Israel in the passage) is a heart that will forsake sin and seek the Lord. Therefore, it is incumbent upon each of us to examine our hearts and lives, repent if necessary, and genuinely seek the face of God. With this, we ensure access to everything our King has in store for us.
